Lars Ulrich – the danish drummer

This portrait of Lars Ulrich has a couple of layers of blue denim. Measure 40 x 40cm. So – not one of the biggest ones I have made, but easy to move around.

All portraits are done in denim. I call it “denim art”. I enjoy the transformation from a couple of old jeans to contemporary art.  The portraits are meant to be recognisable to the viewer, and also express my creative interpretation of the person.

My motivation is to honour a great artist and my idealism about waste-issues and consumerism.

The story
Lars has been an important part of Metallica since the band started in 1981. He got his music interest from his father and because his family moved to USA, Lars started the band there with James Hatfield.

Short about Lars Ulrich
He was born close to Copenhagen, Denmark, 1963.12.26, and he is still alive and kicking. Lucky us.
